Stop me if this sounds familiar,
I want to setup a system that creates passive income. This system will free me from my cubicle and finance a life of freedom, fun and excitement. I go on Google and search for things like “passive income” “work from home”. What I see is amazing, I “see” people living the life I want, I “see” it’s actually possible others have cracked the code. Now I’m inspired, I deeply feel I can make it happen, oh and the price for this freedom…. Mine for $49.95. Hey $49.95 sounds reasonable right? Sure why not.
I’m going to stop you there.
If this sounds like something you’ve done, I’ll give you some advice that flies in the face of common sense keep going.
Honestly you need to buy the $49.95 system, and hey you do need to get the “twitter-super-nuts-crazy-edition-money-system” because maybe just maybe you could get it to work.
Because if you’re anything like me you wouldn’t listen to me anyway.
It’s probably cost me close to $500 to learn a few harsh lessons about setting up a “passive income” business. I’ll list some of the biggest truths, so that if you’re NOT like me you might save yourself some money and time.
There is no “short cut” to passive income
It’s a harsh, painful realisation that 99.99% the “dream” doesn’t come after the $49.95 is paid. Sure there are a few VERY lucky people that have instant success however almost EVERYONE including the greats became overnight successes after years of work, which brings me to….
Passive Income is hard work
Oh no… That’s probably got rid of 50% of my reader’s right here… Bye guys.
You still here?…..So yes creating a business that might eventually earn “passive income” is super hard work, harder still if you don’t have a mentor, and ever harder again if you don’t come from a entrepreneurial background.
Passive Income is dealing with failure even after hard work
This is my personal favourite. After the hard work of setting up the business, you realise it’s just not going to work and you need to abandon it and guess what START testing again… sigh. This one has caused me to throw tantrums, yell, frighten my dogs and generally crack the shits.
Passive Income DOES NOT use your 9-5 cubicle skills
Guess what, your ability to run meetings, manage staff and get that report done on time doesn’t mean shit in the passive income world.
Unless you’re a world class copywriter, advertising guru or super successful small business owner you’re going to struggle plain and simple. There is a massive mountain of new stuff to learn and get across.
And finally you’ll need MONEY!
If one thing is true, it’s that it takes money to make money, and you better get your wallet out.
However, after you’ve purchased the initial get rich quick systems and worked out they are rubbish you’ll need some money for the real tools and programs. (I’ll go into this another time!).
If you’ve made it this far well done!
Over the next few weeks I’ll be blogging about some things you can do to get started with a passive income business and look I’m no guru but I’ve blazed a trail , made some money here and there and spent WAY more than I needed to. Maybe I can save you a few bucks!
Hey, it’s tough out there,
Justin.
