Having worked in the corporate world for a long time I’ve had the words “intellectual property” drummed into my head more times than I can remember. Now I’ve got this fear that as soon as I tell someone my idea they will take it develop it, and make millions while I miss the boat and get nothing.
And while this might be the case in a small percentage of times, I’ve come to realise that by and large people are lazy. With the amount of effort required to bring a product to market most people wouldn’t bother even if they wanted to. It’s just too much like hard work.
So, this time I decided to share my idea with a few colleagues and friends to see what reaction they had, if any. In doing so a strange and curious thing happened.
Like in a computer game I unlocked a hidden level.
When I started to tell people about my idea I actually began to uncover a network of people that could directly help move my idea forward.
Instead of stealing my idea, rushing it into production and making millionswhile still go to work, I actually found the opposite.
This is what I found just in my immediate sphere:
- Someone who use to teach 3D CAD
- Someone who knows an industrial designer
- Someone who knows a product prototype creator
Wow, as coincidence would have it, I need all three.
What strange form of quantum mechanics causes this? I work with these people all the time they never mentioned any of this stuff before.
So ask around, speak to your friends, you never know what hidden levels you’ll unlock….
