For those of you who don’t know I take equestrian horse riding lessons. Because I’m not very good, a “lesson” usually means 45 mins of me trying to get the horse to move let alone attempt  to make it jump, trot , even canter, which out the corner of my eye I see other “normal” horses doing.

The horse I ride, Phoenix, is a cranky, stubborn, very intelligent and powerful horse that knows a lot more about riding than I do and seeks to exploit this at every opportunity. Mostly by standing still.

The bottom line here is that I struggle because I have no idea what I’m doing.

However, all this is changing.

Over the last few weeks there has been a significant shift in the usual Phoenix dominated agenda. Through practice, patience, actively learning and getting over my fears I’ve actually gained some real control over Phoenix. So much so I managed some jumping and even a decent canter a few times around the arena, for me this is a major achievement.

All this excitement in the riding arena has also brought home an internet marketing reality, I simply need more time to learn and I shouldn’t be expecting results so quickly.

Just as my ability to ride Phoenix is improving over time so is my ability to enter new markets and establish an online presence. And just like Phoenix it’s a long path of practice, patience, actively learning and getting over fears.

So there you have it, even a damn horse as taught me an internet marketing lesson… where will the next one come from….
